Pupils at an Exeter school get with the 'IT' crowd thanks to free donation

Students at a school in Exeter are hoping lessons will become ‘easy PC’ after a local company supported the girls with a whole host of additional IT equipment.
St Margaret’s School of Magdalen Road received the equipment, including desktop computers and printers, free of charge from Exeter based integrated services provider Connaught after a recent period of expansion at the school meant additional resources were required to widen availability of computers for pupils.
Headmistress Sheila Cooper said: “In the modern education environment having access to IT equipment is essential to enrich both the learning of students and teaching experiences. The donated equipment has already proved to be a real success in the new Sixth Form Centre and throughout the three IT suites, and St Margaret’s is immensely privileged to have been given this opportunity.”
Mark Searle, Connaught IT Technical Analyst, said: “After their recent expansion it was clear that St Margaret’s School could benefit by further widening the availability of IT equipment to enable students to access the internet, intranet and web based educational resources and we are delighted to have been able to assist.”
The recent opening of the new Sixth Form Centre at St Margaret’s School has also allowed the implementation of an internet café to promote independent learning.
