New Abbey man celebrates 9000th kitchen in DGHP investment programme

March 24th 2010

Dumfries and Galloway Housing Partnership are cooking up success this week as Connaught helped them reach their 9000th new kitchen installation.

As the current contractors this kitchen in New Abbey is the 500th to be completed by Connaught.

This installation marks a major milestone in the ongoing project, which has seen homes being transformed across Dumfries and Galloway.

Connaught have carried out the work as part of DGHP’s investment and regeneration programme, which will see another 1,300 new kitchens fitted in homes across the region.

Joe Byers received the kitchen at his home in New Abbey and he said he was delighted with the work carried out.

He said: “The work has been excellent. I am really pleased with my new kitchen, it has made such a difference.”

John Hay, chair of the Investment and Regeneration committee with DGHP, and DGHP chair John Potts went along to see for themselves what a difference the kitchen has made.

Mr Byers was presented with a kettle and toaster for his new kitchen from Connaught and DGHP and presenting them, John Hay said: “It is excellent to see what a difference this work is making to the lives of people in their homes.

“I am very pleased that this is going according to our programme and it is meeting the targets promised to tenants.”

John Potts added: “We have been working with our contractors Connaught on this project and to have already installed 500 is excellent and shows our continued commitment to our tenants.”

Alan Hill, partnership manager with Connaught, said: “We have had a fantastic response from DGHP tenants to the kitchen upgrades and are delighted that it has made such a difference to Mr Byers.

“Connaught is continuing to work with DGHP to upgrade kitchens and bathrooms across the properties and we are delighted with the customer satisfaction reports.”
