Bolton resident gets great garden makeover thanks to homes repairs partners

March 18th 2010

A disabled Bolton tenant had his back garden transformed courtesy of a day-long blitz by repairs partners Great Places Housing Group and Connaught Partnerships Ltd.

Staff from Great Places and Connaught were joined by Ron Druckmann’s neighbours in Woodland Close, Breightmet, in levelling and planting up his garden.

Ron, 55, who has multiple sclerosis, heart problems and arthritis, uses an electric scooter to get out and about. He moved to his brand new bungalow a year ago but found the garden difficult to negotiate before the work made it more accessible with all aspects now located on one level. New flowers and plants will also make sure there is also plenty of floral colour to enjoy.

Ron said: “It’s great that so many people came round to help. It’ll be fantastic to have a lovely garden to look out onto. I was in charge of making brews and supplying biscuits for the volunteers!”

Participants in the action day included office workers and senior managers with the event being one of a series organised by Great Places and Connaught. Kate Kenney, Connaught customer experience manager, said: “We were delighted to get involved with this initiative as part of our commitment to having an impact in the community beyond our contracted works.”
