Project: Electrical and mechanical reactive maintenance and servicing partnership
Client: Somerset County Council
Location: Somerset
Duration: 6 years
Our client was looking for a reactive maintenance, periodic test and inspection service for their public buildings that offered 100% compliance, cost savings and an improved service for the building user. The programme included Somerset's schools, residential homes, local government offices, libraries and fire stations. Most of which would remain occupied whilst the works were carried out. The Council were also keen to see an environmentally conscious approach to the deliver of this service.
To deliver the required cost savings we moved to 99% direct delivery through our in-house workforce. In addition to the obvious cost savings this also provided continuity, reliability and quality benefits for Somerset.
To improve reactive response times we introduced Conntrol™ and the use of handheld PDAs to communicate jobs instantly, directly into the hands of our electrician on the ground. Risk assessments and health and safety documents were also loaded onto the PDAs to promote safe working practice.
To ensure compliance for all buildings, service schedules were entered onto Conntrol™ to monitor and manage delivery within the prescribed period. On completion test certificates are uploaded onto Conntrol™, maintaining an online compliance record which is available for review at anytime.
A comprehensive equipment database was also created to identify Somserset's assets and ensure compliance of all items.
