National Britannia has joined Connaught Compliance

September 26th 2007

Connaught plc has acquired National Britannia Holdings Limited, a leading specialist provider of multiple health and safety compliance services, for £91 million.

National Britannia together with Connaught’s existing compliance division will enable the group to offer clients the UK’s first integrated ‘blue collar’ and ‘white collar’ compliance service and an effective one-stop compliance service solution for businesses.

The sixth acquisition this year, the FTSE listed group further increases the breadth of compliance services on offer to the public sector. National Britannia’s multi-service capability is a compelling offering for customers and, will join Connaught’s existing 'blue collar' compliance service.

Based in Caerphilly, South Wales, National Britannia employs 770 people who operate throughout the UK from a national network of 23 offices.

Mark Tincknell, Chairman, commented:

"Connaught’s tremendous success has given the group the strength to do this deal. National Britannia is a fast growing and well managed business in a growth market. This puts us in a very good position to capitalise on the strong growth expected in the market as businesses are forced to seek out sourced solutions to cope with the increased burden of ‘red tape’."

National Britannia specialises in a very wide range of health and safety services including fire, water and food safety, asbestos, occupational health and environment related risk. National Britannia’s breadth of services and depth of expertise has created a strong and stable client base which includes many high profile businesses with multiple locations and the business is a principal provider of outsourced services to the Health and Safety Executive.

With National Britannia, Connaught will be the only UK company with a fully integrated compliance solution in a highly attractive fragmented market for outsourced compliance services which is estimated to be worth over £4.6 billion per annum.
