Connaught has again been awarded the esteemed Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Gold Award for Occupational Health and Safety. The group’s total now stands at 15 Gold awards, something few companies in any industry can match.
The RoSPA gold standard is nationally recognised by public and private sectors as the highest independent Health and Safety award. They are reserved for companies who not only demonstrate low accident statistics, but who can through extensive audit, demonstrate good safety management.
As well as achieving excellent standards of health and safety within the company, Connaught also provides gas and electric safety checks for customers throughout the UK. At the beginning of the year Connaught implemented the SAFEcontractor scheme encouraging its sub-contractors to undergo an independent appraisal. The group’s Compliance division was also recently strengthened with the acquisition of Caerphilly-based National Britannia Holdings, a UK leader in white collar health and safety compliance services earlier this year and is a principal provider of outsourced services to the Health and Safety Executive.
Having achieved the gold standard over 8 years, Connaught Compliance and Partnership divisions have demonstrated that highly effective safety management systems are in place and are continuously improving accident prevention procedures.
Howard Walters Group Health, Safety and Environment Director congratulated both sectors in achieving the awards and thanked everyone within the Connaught Group who contributed to the achievements. “It’s worth noting bids were compilied completely independently of each other.”
The awards will be presented at a formal ceremony held in May at this year’s Safety and Health Expo in Birmingham.
